GRINDSTONE commenced to rally approaching the
end of the backstretch, worked his way between horses along the
inside around the far turn, angled out five wide entering the
stretch and finished strongly to wear down CAVONNIER in the final
stride while drifting out. The latter moved within easy striking
distance between horses entering the backstretch, came out five wide
to make a run on the far turn, was struck across the face by the
whip of HALO SUNSHINE's rider nearing the stretch and, after gaining
a clear advantage leaving the furlong grounds, just failed to last.
PRINCE OF THIEVES laced room after the start, moved up along the
inside approaching the stretch, came out for the drive but wasn't
good enough. HALO SUNSHINE, never far back, moved up inside the
leaders at the far turn, was racing forwardly when his rider struck
CAVONNIER with his whip near the stretch and weakened late.
UNBRIDLED'S SONG, racing with two bar shoes, came away in good
order, followed HONOUR AND GLORY and MATTY G into the backstretch
while racing five wide, took over just after going six furlongs,
continued wide into the stretch while clearly in front and weakened.
EDITOR'S NOTE, off slowly and outrun early, raced nine wide passing
horses approaching the stretch and failed to seriously menace. BLOW
OUT, badly outrun early while saving ground, advanced between horses
around the far turn, but failed to sustain his rally and was
steadied near the final furlong. ALYROB, brushed with HONOUR AND
GLORY after the start, raced between horses while advancing around
the far turn, then lugged in while tiring during the drive.
DILIGENCE, in close following the start, failed to be a serious
factor while working his way between horses through the upper
stretch. VICTORY SPEECH, reserved early, made a run along the inside
racing into the far turn and gave way. CORKER, bothered following
the start, raced wide much of the way. SKIP AWAY, within easy
striking distance while five wide around the first turn and into the
backstretch, was finished soon after going six furlongs while
continuing wide. ZARB'S MAGIC, between horses much of the way, tired
badly from his early efforts. SEMORAN, well placed to the final turn
while racing between horses, tired badly. IN CONTENTION broke out
into CORKER after the start, and failed to be a serious factor.
LOUIS QUATORZE, wide after coming away in close quarters, tired
badly. MATTY G, prominent to the far turn while between horses,
stopped badly. HONOUR AND GLORY quickly sprinted clear after
brushing with ALYROB following the start, remained in the three or
four path while showing speed for seven furlongs and gave way
suddenly. BUILT FOR PLEASURE, well out in the track while between
horses, raced forwardly into the backstretch but was finished before
reaching the far turn. Scratched - City by Night on Friday.
